Poppies, Poppies (Wizard of Oz Collection)
Who doesn't know the story of the Wizard of Oz? Chronicling the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, she and her pet dog, Toto, were swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The book is one of the best-known stories in American literature and has been widely translated.
The movie adaptation is 80 years old this year and just as entertaining today. The original movie was in black and white but, due to the wonder of technicolor, the movie has been brought to life.
This variegated colorway, with shades of yellow, orange, and red, is inspired by the poppy field that causes Dorothy and her friends to fall asleep when they are SO CLOSE to Emerald City (another plot by the Wicked Witch to keep them from their destination.) The Deadly Poppy Field symbolizes the dangers of apathy and complacency. I modeled the colorway after the beautiful orange California Poppy, because they’re my favorite!
