Justice - Every Woman Dazzle (Wanderlust Yarn Club November 2016)

$33.00

Ciara Phillips’ Every Woman, co-commissioned by Edinburgh Art Festival and 14-18 NOW, is the fourth in a series of dazzle ship artworks developed by contemporary artists to commemorate the First World War.  Designed not to camouflage, but to distort a ship’s appearance when viewed through a telescope, ‘Dazzle’ was developed by the British marine artist Norman Wilkinson to counter the threat posed by German U-Boats. Using strongly contrasting blocks of colour, stripes and curves, dazzle designs transformed ships into a confusing array of multi-directional shapes, making it difficult to gauge a ship’s direction or speed.

Pops of bright pink, yellow, and blue, dyed over in black, gives a graffiti look to this yarn that's unlike anything I've dyed before.

A touch of cashmere gives Justice the soft hand of a truly luxurious yarn. Nylon gives it durability -- perfect for sumptuous socks or a little something soft and decadent to go around your neck but hardy enough to become a daily-wear sweater. All this in a surprisingly affordable skein with great yardage.
