Gluttony Sport/DK - Phoenix (HP Yarn Club May 2016)
Fawkes was Dumbledore's animal companion and defender. He was instrumental in helping Harry defeat the basilisk, and came to Dumbledore's aid in fighting Voldemort during the battle at the Department of Mysteries. Following Dumbledore's death, Fawkes sang his Lament over the grounds of Hogwarts and then left, never to be seen again. His tail feathers were the cores of the two twin wands held by Voldemort and Harry.
You can’t have a Harry Potter yarn club without acknowledging dear Fawkes, or the magic of the Phoenix as a whole. How much cooler can it get than regenerating through fire? I knew I didn’t want to go the route of the bright reds and yellows that are traditionally associated with the phoenix, so when I found this more austere piece of artwork, I knew it was perfect! The colors are rich and warm, just like I see the loyalty Fawkes had for Dumbledore. His departure from Hogwarts after Dumbledore’s death was strikingly sad, “a stricken lament of terrible beauty.”
GLUTTONY SPORT/DKLike its fingering and worsted weight relatives, Gluttony Sport/DK starts with eight strands of a soft merino wool.
