Who doesn't know the story of the Wizard of Oz? Chronicling the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, she and her pet dog, Toto, were swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The book is one of the best-known stories in American literature and has been widely translated.
The movie adaptation is 80 years old this year and just as entertaining today. The original movie was in black and white but, due to the wonder of technicolor, the movie has been brought to life.
This tonal colorway with shades of bright red and bits of silver peeking out here and there, is inspired by Dorothy's famous ruby red shoes. An original pair can be seen at the Smithsonian museum. Did you know her shoes in the books were silver?
