Flying Monkeys (Wizard of Oz Collection)
Who doesn't know the story of the Wizard of Oz? Chronicling the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy in the magical Land of Oz, she and her pet dog, Toto, were swept away from their Kansas home by a cyclone. The book is one of the best-known stories in American literature and has been widely translated.
The movie adaptation is 80 years old this year and just as entertaining today. The original movie was in black and white but, due to the wonder of technicolor, the movie has been brought to life.
This variegated colorway, full of bright blue and red dyed over with a brownish-grey, is inspired by the infamous flying monkeys and their outfits. Although they are most notably remembered as the Wicked Witch of the West’s guards in the Wizard of Oz, they have taken their own place in popular culture, regularly referenced in comedic or ironic situations as a source of evil or fear.
Shown on Pride.
